Womenade SLO is BACK!

We are so excited to launch Womenade SLO with you! What a joy to be back helping the community with you! Thank you for reading our FIRST newsletter! Here's what happened in our first full month:

• Seven referring agents reached out to us on behalf of their clients.

• 31 households donated to Womenade SLO in May which made it possible for us to meet every need.

• $2,330.69 has already been given to help SLO residents in crisis.

• Each need was met within 24 hours.

Needs Met in May 2025

• Single mother of three children is looking for a job and needs support for basic needs and clothes for her children. ($100) Referral from Karla Najera, Laguna Middle School/LINK Family Advocate.

• Full-size mattress and bed frame for high school student sleeping on a couch. ($224.13) Referral from Mary McCallister and Deanna Martinez of CAPSLO.

• Baby food, diapers, clothing, toys, and books for a clerical staff member who has to unexpectedly take leave from her job to foster her 18-month-old niece ($306.56), referral from Rollin Dickinson, SLO High.

• Gas for the car of a woman who is experiencing homelessness. ($100) referral from Karla Najera, Laguna Middle School/LINK Family Advocate.

• A husband lost his job and needs assistance paying a vehicle loan; this will allow him to look for a new job. ($367) Referral from Catherine Manning, People’s Self-Help Housing.

• Rent assistance for a single mom who lost her job. ($633) Referral from Catherine Manning, People’s Self-Help Housing. 

• Rent support for a woman accepted to new affordable housing.  She was hospitalized just after moving in and subsequently lost her job. She is looking for new employment; her EDD unemployment was mailed to her old address and stolen. ($600) Referral from Jamie Moothart, Access Central Coast Independent Living Center.
